MARINE DEPARTMENT

Boat lifts to full service marinas

MARINE EXPERIENCE

MARINE EXPERIENCE
Our Marine Department provides the best marine environment wiring in the area. From large commercial projects in marinas to residential docks and boat lifts, our crew is equipped to provide a beautiful wiring job while keeping you safe. The marine environment is tough, so we use all stainless-steel fasteners and straps, schedule 80 PVC, and top-quality design and installation to assure years of trouble-free operation.

In addition, ACRA has provided wiring for many of the area's commercial marinas using products by Eaton and Marina Electrical Equipment.

RESIDENTIAL BOAT LIFT WIRING
ACRA’s Marine Department prides itself on high quality boat lift and dock wiring. All docks are wired using heavy wall Schedule 80 PVC, stainless steel fasteners, and are GFCI Protected. In addition, we will work with you and your dock builder to provide lighting, remote controls, and shore power to your dock and lift. Your preferences are important to us! We want your dock to be exactly how you want it.

DOCK WIRING
We offer Eaton and Marina Electrical Equipment marine pedestals in both commercial and residential spaces with a choice of outlets for any requirement. We design decorative and functional lighting systems for docks that will last, and GEM Manufacturing Remote Controls for boat lifts that will add safety and convenience. We work with our customers to design a complete system on paper before we begin work.

Our marine department’s options and work can be seen on our brochure or by visiting our office where we have some of our lighting options and pedestals on display.

MARINA WIRING
Our Marine Department has provided complete wiring for many local Marinas including: Gulf Harbour Marina, Cape Harbour Marina, Tarpon Point Marina, Legacy Harbor Marina, Tween Waters Marina, Burnt Store Marina, Sweetwater Landings Marina, Captiva Island Yacht Club, Naples City Dock, Naples Bay Marina and Hamilton Harbor Marina.

MARINA INSPECTION
An important part of Marina Operation is the maintenance and routine testing of the Marina Electrical System. Marine environments cause corrosion and constant movement, factors that can contribute to electrical failures without proper, ongoing maintenance. ACRA’s team engages in continuing education and constant process updates to make sure they are ahead of the curve with upcoming requirements and safety needs.

Currently, NFPA 303 – Article 520 of the Fire Protection Standard for Marinas and Boatyards requires inspection of the marina electrical wiring and equipment at least annually. ACRA Electric, Inc., with years of marina wiring experience, offers a service to evaluate and report on the condition of the electrical system at marinas.

The Marina Electrical Inspection Service includes:

A full inspection of shore power pedestals and receptacle sizes.

Survey of electrical service, feeders, and distribution system, to include cycling of each overcurrent protective device and disconnect switch.
Inspection of switchgear.
Inspection of shore to dock electrical connection for floating docks.
Evaluation of grounding electrode system.
Testing of each individual shore power receptacle to include: voltage, voltage drop, ground to neutral voltage, resistance of hot, neutral, and ground conductors, GFCI, and light test.
Boats that are connected will be tested for possible leaking current, bonding continuity, and neutral isolation.

After the inspection is completed a report and summary will be prepared and presented, along with recommendations for possible repairs.
